If you want them independent

Distance. The simplest answer. Panels in different rooms, or at opposite ends of a long room, fall outside each other's range and behave independently by default.

Orientation. If the receiver needs a direct line of sight, angling your aim matters. Standing close and to one side, pointing squarely at one panel, will often trigger only that one.

Physical switching. On the battery version, the honest answer is that removing power from one panel is the reliable way to keep it out of the conversation. On a plug-in version, a smart plug per panel gives real independence for on and off, though the remote still handles dimming for whichever panels are powered.
