Not one of those four rows mentions width. Projection depth is the marker buyers skip, and it decides whether a piece reads as an object or a picture: anything standing off the wall throws a shadow line under its bottom edge. 4. Check the height as well as the width. The three sizes are 19.7 in (50 cm), 23.6 in (60 cm) and 27.6 in (70 cm) tall.
5. Leave 6 to 8 in (15 to 20 cm) between the top of the sofa back and the bottom of the frame.
6. Land the centre of the piece 57 to 60 in (145 to 152 cm) off the floor, which is standard gallery height, unless the sofa back pushes it up.
7. Find the studs, 16 in (40.6 cm) on centre, and mark both fixing points in pencil.
8. Step back to the far wall and look at the pencil marks before you drill. This is the step people skip.
9. Decide the cord route now if you are buying the plug-in version, because the cord exits at the back edge and most people run it down behind the sofa or into a paintable cord channel.

The late-night failure looks like this. You hold the panel against the wall, it feels enormous in your hands, you drop it lower to feel safe, and it ends up almost touching the sofa back with a bare stripe of wall above. Depth pushes back against this, and light pushes back harder. A piece that stands off the wall throws a shadow line under its bottom edge, and that line gives the eye something to land on. This panel washes light in two directions, up and down onto the wall behind it, which leaves a halo and a floating shadow gap under the frame, so the smallest size still holds a wall better than a flat print of the same width.

The light is not bright, and I would not oversell it. It is ambient, closer to a bias light behind a television than a reading lamp, and the plug-in and battery versions run at one fixed warm brightness with no dimmer. Two controls come with it, a remote and a touch switch on the panel. The battery version takes AA cells, which are not in the box.

So the two failure modes are different problems. Small and flat reads thin. Small, deep and lit reads deliberate, which is why people pick a lit panel over a print plus a lamp for the same wall.
