A double-sided stainless steel cutting board in 304 food-grade steel: a juice groove on one side for carving, a flat prep surface on the other.
This is the surface you reach for when hygiene matters more than looks. Steel is non-porous, so juices, odours and raw-protein residue sit on top instead of soaking in, and the whole board goes into the dishwasher afterwards. There is nothing to oil, season or reseal, on day one or on day one thousand.
A 2023 North Dakota State University study in Environmental Science and Technology estimated that a polyethylene board sheds roughly 7.4 to 50.7 grams of microplastic per person per year. Steel sheds none. That is the comparison this board is built for: a hard, non porous cutting board in place of a soft one that wears away with every cut.
Knife work leaves fine lines that settle into an even matte patina, the same look a commercial prep counter takes on. They stay surface marks rather than open grooves, so nothing splits, nothing absorbs and nothing traps residue.

In the Box
- 1 x stainless steel board in the size you chose
- No oil, wax, sealant or maintenance kit needed
Please Note
- Styling props, knives and food shown in the photos are not included.
- The surface is smoother than wood or plastic. A damp cloth or a thin silicone mat underneath anchors the board for fine chopping.
- It has real weight. That is what keeps it still while you work, but it is heavier than a plastic board of the same size.
- Fine knife lines are normal and blend into an even matte patina. They are surface marks, not damage.
- Handle the board by the face rather than the rim when washing with soapy hands.
- Measurements are taken by hand and may differ by about 0.2 in.
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about the materials, care and everyday use — no fine print.
What grade of steel is the board made from?
This is a 304 stainless steel cutting board, the same grade used for kitchen sinks, commercial prep surfaces and cookware. It is uncoated and non-porous, so it is food safe as it comes, with no oiling, seasoning or sealing needed at any point.
Is it actually dishwasher safe?
Yes, both sizes. That is the main reason people choose a dishwasher safe cutting board in steel over wood. A full wash cycle clears residue and strong odours such as onion, garlic and fish, because there are no pores for them to soak into.
What are the two sizes?
Medium is 12 x 8 in (30.5 x 20.3 cm) and Large is 15.4 x 11 in (39 x 28 cm). Medium suits everyday prep and small counters; Large gives you room to carve a whole roast or a chicken without juices running off the edge.
Will it blunt my knives?
Steel is harder than wood or plastic, so it will dull an edge faster than an end-grain block will. Most owners keep this board for raw protein and carving, and a wood board for high-volume vegetable chopping, so each surface does the job it suits.
What is the juice groove for?
On a cutting board with juice groove, that channel runs the full perimeter of one side and catches juices while you carve or rest meat, so nothing spills onto the counter. The other side is completely flat for chopping, rolling dough or serving, which is the point of a double sided cutting board.
Is this the best cutting board for raw chicken?
It is built for exactly that job. Because the surface is non-porous and fully dishwasher safe, raw chicken residue cannot soak in and the whole board can be sanitised after every use, which a scored plastic or oiled wood board cannot match.
Does food slide around on a metal cutting board?
The surface is smoother than wood, so it can feel slick at first. Laying a damp cloth or a thin silicone mat underneath anchors the board completely and makes fine prep noticeably easier. Nothing needs to be fixed to the board itself.
Will it rust or stain?
304 stainless resists rust and staining in normal kitchen use. Acidic foods, salt and citrus will not pit it, and dishwasher detergent will not strip anything, because there is no coating or finish to strip in the first place.
How do I clean and store it?
Dishwasher, or hot soapy water and a cloth. Nothing needs oiling, waxing or drying face-down to stop warping. The slim profile means it stores upright in a narrow cabinet gap or flat in a drawer without taking a shelf.
How is it packed and shipped?
In the box is the board on its own, packed flat and protected on all edges inside a rigid carton. No oil, wax or maintenance kit is included because none is needed. Shipping is free and tracked, and if it arrives damaged, send a photo within 30 days of delivery for a replacement or refund.
