A stainless steel finger hand protector and cutting guard for fingers, holding steel between the knife edge and your fingertips.
Working through a pile of onions, the guiding hand drifts toward the blade and the claw grip gets hard to hold. This knife finger guard gives you a physical stop instead. The shield covers the fingertips, the blade rides against metal, and a split ring on the hollow inner face holds it on your finger as you feed food toward the edge.

Features
- Curved hood that cups the fingertips at the point of the cut
- Outer face is bare smooth steel, so the blade slides along clean metal
- Split ring on the hollow inner face; your finger slides up into it
- Symmetrical ring works on the left or the right hand
- Rounded, smooth outer edge
- Two styles, a one-finger or a two-finger hold

Choosing a style
Pick the smaller hood for a one-finger hold, worn on the index finger. Pick the wider one to put the index and middle finger both behind the steel. Either way it is the same brushed steel chef finger guard, just a different width.
Please note
- This is a rigid shield, not rated safety equipment. It carries no cut-resistance rating and does not replace rated cut-resistant gloves.
- Hand wash only. The supplier gives no dishwasher rating, so we do not claim it is dishwasher safe.
- The split ring fits most fingers but is not adjustable to every hand.
- Knife, board, food and linens in the photos are styling props and are not included.
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about the materials, care and everyday use — no fine print.
What is the purpose of a finger guard?
A kitchen finger guard is a curved steel shield you wear on the guiding hand while you cut. It sits between the knife edge and your fingertips, so the blade rides against metal instead of skin. As a finger guard for cutting, and a finger protector for slicing and chopping, it does the job your knuckles do in a claw grip, without asking you to hold that grip perfectly every time.
How do you protect your fingers when cutting vegetables?
Three things do most of the work: a sharp knife, a board that cannot slide, and a guiding hand that never puts fingertips in the blade path. This knife cutting finger protector covers the third one physically, and doubles as a hand guard for chopping. To protect fingers when cutting you rest this cutting shield for fingers against the food, feed it forward, and let the blade run down the steel face.
Why do my fingers keep getting cut when I chop?
Usually a dull knife, a sliding board, or a guiding hand that drifts as you speed up. A dull blade skids off skins and needs force, and the claw grip is the first thing to loosen when you get tired or rushed. A finger protector for chopping gives you a fixed steel edge to work against, removing the part that depends on concentration, which is what people really want when they ask how to protect fingers while chopping.
What is the claw grip, and does this replace it?
The claw grip cutting technique means curling your fingertips under so your knuckles guide the blade. It works, but it has to be held correctly every single cut. This guard gives you the same fixed vertical face without the technique, which is why it suits beginners, tired cooks and anyone teaching claw grip knife skills.
How do you use a knife finger guard?
There is nothing to install, mount or power. Slide a finger into the split ring on the hollow inner face so the curved face sits forward over your fingertips. Rest this finger protector from knife work against the food, then guide the blade down its outer face, moving the guard back between slices.
What is the difference between the Single and Double Finger Guard?
The Single Finger Guard is the smaller style, about 2.6 in (6.5 cm) across, with one vertical split ring inside for one finger. The Double Finger Guard is wider at about 3.0 in (7.6 cm), with two ring bands side by side, so the index and middle finger both sit behind the steel.
How big is a kitchen finger guard?
The smaller style measures about 2.6 in (6.5 cm) by 1.8 in (4.5 cm). The larger style measures about 3.0 in (7.6 cm) by 2.2 in (5.6 cm). Both are small enough to keep in a utensil drawer beside your cutting boards rather than needing a place on the counter.
Does a finger guard work if you are left handed?
Yes. The split ring on the inner face is symmetrical and is not shaped for a particular hand, so it can be worn on either the left or the right. Nothing needs to be reversed or adjusted to swap sides between cooks, which also makes it easy to hand to someone else mid prep.
Is a finger guard the same as cut resistant gloves?
No. This is a rigid steel shield covering the fingertips of one hand at the point of the cut. It carries no cut-resistance rating and is not a substitute for rated cut-resistant gloves, which protect the whole hand to a tested level. It is a chop safe finger guard in the everyday sense, a finger shield for cutting that guides the blade, not rated safety equipment.
Can I use it for grating, or with a mandoline?
We do not claim either. The supplier documents this as a guard for knife work on a board, and nothing in that source covers graters or mandoline blades, which move differently against the steel. For those tools use the guard the manufacturer supplies with them.
What is it made of, does it rust, and how do you clean it?
As a finger protector kitchen drawers can actually hold, it is stainless steel with a brushed silver finish and a rounded outer edge. The supplier states stainless steel without naming a grade, so we do not quote one. Hand wash in warm soapy water and dry it straight after prep. No dishwasher rating is given, so we do not claim it is dishwasher safe.
What comes in the box and can I return it?
You receive one guard in the style you select. The knife, board, food and linens in the photographs are styling props and are not included. If it is not what you expected you can return it under the store refund policy linked in the footer.
