Wood Dome Wall Hanging, 30 x 85 cm Fringe Column

• One hanging, in the colorway you pick. Three are offered.
• A solid wooden half-dome at the top, 30 cm wide, with the grain running across the curve.

Every colorway carries its own supplier drawing, and all three agree with the size in the supplier's description text - which is worth saying, because agreement between those two sources is not the norm in this collection.

One fixing behind the dome. The dome is rigid and the weight sits above the cord, so the piece self-levels and will not rock - which makes it the easy thing to hang in a row, unlike anything on a cord.

Use a hook rather than an adhesive strip. No weight is published and a solid 30 cm wooden dome is the part that will pull a sticker off a wall. Check the back when it arrives; no hanging fitting is described anywhere.

Comb the cord once. It arrives packed flat and holds a slight wave for a day or two. Run your fingers down through it in sections and let the weight do the rest - there is no knotwork to disturb, so this is quick.

Mind the split. On the brown and green options the color divides vertically down the middle, and which side the color falls on is fixed. If you are hanging two, turning one is not an option - so plan the pair around the split rather than assuming you can mirror it.

Brown pairs undyed cream with a rust chestnut, on a pale ash dome. It is the warmest of the three, and the split is the most visible because the two tones are furthest apart in value.

Green pairs cream with a deep forest green, also on pale ash. Higher contrast than the brown and cooler with it - the one for a room with plants or a green-led scheme.

White is the outlier and worth a second look: the cord is undyed cream throughout with no split at all, and the dome is dark walnut rather than pale ash. So it is the only version where the wood is the dark element and the textile is uniform - almost the inverse of the other two. On a pale wall it reads as a dark cap over a soft column.

The narrow strip: beside a doorway, between two windows, on the return wall of a hallway, over a nightstand a lamp already crowds. At 30 cm wide and 85 cm tall this is built for exactly the proportion that framed art gets wrong, and it needs one fixing to do it.

Second, in a row. Because the dome is rigid the pieces hang level without adjustment, so three across 130 cm line up cleanly - which a cord-hung piece never does. Alternating the colorways along a row uses the vertical split as a rhythm rather than as a quirk.

Third, a rented wall. One hook, no drilling worth the name, no glass and nothing to damage. As boho wall decor it is among the least demanding things you can put up, and the wooden dome stops it reading as a temporary poster.

• The supplier publishes almost nothing. A size, a material and a category - that is the entire record. No weight, no depth, no wood species, no care instruction and no hanging fitting.
• There are no supplier photographs at all, beyond the three colorway drawings. The room images on this page are our own staging, not the supplier's, and they are there to show scale and placement rather than to document the object.
• The color split is fixed. Cream on one side, color on the other, and you cannot flip it. Plan a pair around that.
• The white option has a different dome. Dark walnut where the other two are pale ash. It is not simply the same piece without the color.
• No weight, and the dome is solid wood. Use a hook, not an adhesive strip.
• Cut cord shows dust and will need an occasional comb. There is no hem and nothing holding the strands together at the bottom.
