A dorm room gives you one wall, usually the one behind the bed, and a lease that frowns on anything bigger than a picture hook. Wide canvases and gallery walls need a run of wall most dorm rooms do not have. What actually fits is something tall and narrow - a single vertical piece that fills the gap between the bed and the window without asking for six inches of clearance on either side.
This is a dorm wall hanging built to that shape: one cream cord panel, 40 cm wide and 100 cm long, hung from a dark stained wood batten. A sage green vine of hand-knotted leaves runs down the center, worked directly into the cord rather than laid over it, so it stands slightly proud and catches its own shadow.
