An open fan, not a tight V

Cord loops down from a long dark batten in nested arcs, and the center of this one is deliberately open: a wide cream U sits in the middle with darker, shallower arcs outside it. The result is a fan that reads light in the center and grows in weight towards the edges.

The supplier publishes 100 by 70 cm, about 39 by 28 inches. Landscape, so it wants a wide wall.

The other one in this collection

There is a second product here with the same four color names, the same declared 100 by 70 cm and the same construction. It is not this one. That one nests its loops tightly into a narrow V with no open center. This one has the wide cream middle. If you have both open in tabs and cannot tell them apart, that is the difference, and it is the only one.

We have flagged the pair to the owner. Both are unpublished drafts, so nothing is live and no link is at risk either way.

Four colorways

  • Grey, charcoal and slate around a cream center
  • Coffee, chestnut, mustard and rust around cream, the warmest
  • Blue, navy and mid blue around cream
  • Green, deep green and sage around cream

Why the open center matters

On a pale wall the cream middle nearly disappears and the darker outer arcs read as two separate curves, which makes the piece feel wider than it is. On a dark or strongly colored wall the opposite happens and the cream center becomes the focus. It behaves quite differently depending on what is behind it, which the tight V version does not.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the materials, care and everyday use — no fine print.

How big is it?

100 by 70 cm, about 39 by 28 inches, per the supplier's own title.

How is this different from the other arc here?

This one has a wide open cream center with shallower outer arcs. The other nests its loops tightly into a narrow V with no open middle. Same four color names, same declared size, same construction, different silhouette.

Why are there two nearly identical products?

Because the supplier sells both as separate items and we imported both. We have flagged it. Both are unpublished drafts, so nothing is live and no link is at risk while the owner decides.

Which colorway is warmest?

Coffee, at chestnut, mustard and rust around cream. Green and Blue both read as color on the wall, and Grey is the most neutral.

Will it work on a dark wall?

Yes, and it will look quite different. On a pale wall the cream center nearly disappears and the outer arcs read as two curves. On a dark wall the cream center becomes the focal point.

Will it suit my console?

If the console is about 150 cm wide, yes. The usual guide is art at roughly two thirds the furniture width, and 100 cm over 150 cm is right.

Is it landscape or portrait?

Landscape, wider than it is tall. It will not fit a tall narrow gap.

Does anything hang loose at the bottom?

No. Every cord loops from the batten and returns to it, so the lower edge is a closed curve rather than a fringe of cut ends.

Is it macrame?

No. There is no knotwork. The pattern comes from the loops nesting and from the color bands.

How do I hang it?

Two fixings along the batten, set as far apart as it allows. One central hook lets a 100 cm batten dip at the ends, which shows immediately on a symmetrical piece.

How much does it weigh?

Not published. Treat it as heavier than a fine fringe hanging because of the stained wood batten, and fix into something solid.

How do I clean it?

Vacuum on low suction along the loops. Do not wash it: the arc depends on even tension and wetting it pulls it out of true.

Where does it work?

Above a bed, a sofa or a console. The three room photographs use exactly those, all of them wide horizontal placements.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Nothing in the source supports it, and a stained wood batten in a damp room is a poor idea.

Is anything included?

One wall hanging with its batten. No hooks, fixings or instructions.

What size wall art should I hang above a queen bed?

A queen headboard is about 155 cm, so around 100 cm of art. This piece is exactly 100 by 70 cm, which makes it a good fit over a queen.

How do I hang a wall hanging without drilling into the wall?

Adhesive strips rated above the weight. With a 100 cm batten use two spaced apart, because one in the middle lets the ends dip and a symmetrical fan shows it immediately.

What are boho wall decor ideas for above the bed?

One wide soft object, hung with a hand's width of clearance above the headboard. Width matters more than height in that position, which is why a fan shape works.

What are cheap ways to fill a big empty wall in a rental?

Buy by area rather than by object. Textile covers more wall per pound than anything framed and leaves nothing behind when you go.

What wall decor can renters take with them when they move?

Anything unframed and light. Fiber pieces roll up, survive a box and suit whatever wall comes next, which framed work generally does not.

How do I decorate a bedroom wall on a budget?

Get the size and the height right before you spend anything. Most budget bedroom walls fail on both, and both are free to correct.

Is a cotton rope wall hanging safe to put above a crib?

Only well clear and out of reach, and honestly we would not. A 100 cm span above a cot depends on two fixings staying sound for years.

What color wall art goes with a gray bedroom?

Something warm, or the room goes colder. The Coffee colorway here at chestnut, mustard and rust does that; the Grey option is the tonal choice if you want it to recede.

Macrame or woven wall hanging, which one lasts longer?

Neither reliably outlasts the other. What determines life is fiber and sunlight rather than technique: a polyester piece in shade outlasts a cotton one in a south window by years.

What should I hang above a console table in an entryway?

Something narrower than the console with clearance above whatever sits on it. At 100 cm this suits a console of about 150 cm.

What is large wall art under 100 dollars?

Almost always textile. Large framed work at that price is a printed poster in a thin frame; a fiber piece gives you scale and a real surface.

What wall decor works in a small apartment?

One piece per wall, sized to the furniture. Small flats read as cluttered quickly, and a single correctly sized object is the cure rather than the cause.

Does a rope wall hanging shed fluff onto the bed?

Cotton cord fluffs at cut ends with handling. On this piece every cord loops back to the batten rather than ending in a cut fringe, so there is very little to shed.

What can I put above a bed with no headboard?

Something that draws a horizontal line where the headboard would be, hung lower than you would above a real headboard. A wide fan does that well.

What is the best wall hanging for a dorm room wall?

Something light on two small fixings, within the rules. At 100 cm this is on the large side for a dorm; a narrower piece is usually the better fit.

What is the difference between a tapestry and a wall hanging?

A tapestry is woven cloth. Wall hanging is the general term for anything hung, including knotted, looped and printed pieces. This one is looped cord, so it is a wall hanging and not a tapestry.

What wall art should I put above a sofa in a living room?

Landscape, at two thirds the sofa width. This piece is landscape at 100 by 70 cm, which suits a two seater well and a three seater a little narrowly.

How much should a large fiber wall hanging cost?

Compare on size and construction. This is a meter wide with a stained wood batten, which is more material than a small hanging and less work than a knotted piece of the same width.

What is a good housewarming gift for a first apartment?

Something for a wall, neutral, and light enough to hang without a drill. At a meter wide this is a confident gift rather than a safe one.

How do I stop a fabric wall hanging from curling at the edges?

Hang it and leave it. Curling comes from flat packing. On this piece there is very little to curl because the loops are fixed at both ends.

What wall art works as a wedding ceremony backdrop?

Full height pieces for a ceremony, wide ones for a table. This is the wide kind, so it suits a cake or welcome table rather than standing behind a couple.

Is 100 percent cotton wall art better than polyester?

Softer and it combs out better; it also fades faster in strong sun. This supplier declares 100% Cotton for this piece.

How do I hang a wall hanging that comes on a wooden board?

Two fixings under the board rather than one in the middle, at the same height. Level the fixings rather than trying to level the board by eye.

How wide is 100 cm in inches for wall art?

About 39 inches. Against furniture that is roughly the width of a two seat sofa or two thirds of a queen headboard.

How do I style a boho bedroom without it looking cluttered?

One large textile rather than several small objects, and repeat a material rather than a color. Clutter in boho rooms comes from object count, not from pattern.

What wall art can cover a patched or marked wall?

Something with depth, hung slightly proud of the surface. A looped piece casts its own shadow and hides the wall behind it in a way a flat frame does not.

What is neutral wall art that is not beige?

Grey, cream or a muted green. The Grey option here is charcoal and slate around cream, which reads neutral without the yellow cast beige brings.

What is the best wall decor for a rental you cannot paint?

Something large enough to change how the wall reads. A meter wide piece alters a wall in a way three small frames do not, and it leaves no trace.

How do I stop wall art from looking too small above a sofa?

Buy to two thirds of the sofa width, or hang a group that adds up to it. A single small piece above a long sofa always looks stranded, whatever its quality.

What do you give a couple who just moved in together?

Something neither would choose alone. A neutral wall piece is a decision made for them, which is genuinely useful when every wall is bare.

How do I make a rented bedroom feel finished?

Curtains to the floor, a rug under the bed and one correctly sized wall piece. All three travel, and all three are about scale rather than spend.

Is a wall hanging better than a mirror above a bed?

A hanging, for most people. A mirror above a bed reflects the ceiling, catches light at the wrong angle and is heavier to fix safely above a sleeping head.

Do cotton wall hangings fade in sunlight?

Dyed cotton shifts in tone over a year or two of strong direct sun. Cream warms rather than fades. No light fastness figure is published here.

How do I hang wall decor in a dorm without damaging the wall?

Adhesive strips removed slowly and downwards. Most damage comes from the removal rather than the hanging, which is the part people rush.

How long does a large wall hanging take to ship?

Check the product page for current times. Fiber travels compressed whatever the timeline, so allow a day of hanging before judging the shape.

What are wall art ideas for a bedroom with a sloped ceiling?

Hang from the top and let the piece fall free rather than sitting flat. A fringe or looped piece follows gravity, where a rigid frame sits proud at the bottom of a slope.
