Room Partition Curtain, Macrame Window Panel in 2 Sizes
Estimated delivery: 3–10 days
Item details Materials, dimensions, what is in the box
An open doorway between a studio kitchen and the sleeping area needs a soft edge, not a wall
Putting up an actual door in a rental is rarely allowed, and a solid curtain on a rod blocks every bit of light and sound along with the view. What most open-plan layouts actually want is a boundary that reads as a boundary without sealing the room - something you can see and hear through, that still tells you where one space ends and the next begins.
This is a room partition curtain built from knotted cotton rope: a band of diamond-and-chevron lattice across the top, tab loops that go straight over a rod or pole with no extra hardware, and the rest of the panel left as loose hanging cord. It works as a doorway curtain in an opening with no door, and it works as a room divider curtain strung on a pole across a wider gap - the lattice band screens the view while the open cord below still lets light and air through.
100% cotton, handmade; the color is an undyed cream. It ships in two sizes, and - unusually for this batch - the option axis on this piece is mislabeled "Color" even though both option values are sizes, not colors.

What you get
- One panel per order. Our packing list reads "1 x Tapestry" - a single curtain panel, not a pair.
- A knotted band across the top, a repeating diamond set inside a chevron lattice, worked in undyed cotton cord.
- Tab loops built into the top of the band, knotted directly into the piece rather than a sewn channel, so it slides over a rod or pole without curtain rings.
- Loose hanging cord below the band, unworked and untied, ending in a shallow knotted zigzag hem.
- No hardware. No rod, no rings, no clips - the packing list lists the panel and nothing else.
Dimensions, and what they mean on your opening
Two sizes are published, one photographed over a window and the other in a doorway. Neither photograph states which published number is the width and which is the drop, so both are given as published, in the order we list them.
| Size A | 105 cm x 105 cm / 41.3 x 41.3 in - square, so width and drop are the same figure regardless of orientation |
|---|---|
| Depth off the wall / opening | The knotted band has real thickness in the photographs; the loose lower cords hang close to flat. |
| Coverage | The knotted band covers roughly the top third of the panel's height; the rest is open cord that screens rather than blocks - read directly from both confirmed photographs, not a figure |

Measure the actual opening, not the rod. A curtain sized to the rod width but hung in a doorway narrower than that will bunch; one hung over a wide window opening will gap at the sides. The square 105 cm size is the more forgiving of the two for an opening you have not measured precisely.
How to hang it
The tab loops at the top of the knotted band go directly over a rod, pole or tension rod - no rings, no clips, nothing else is needed or included. Because the loops are knotted into the piece rather than sewn, they will not fray with use the way a cut fabric loop can.
Space the gathers evenly across the rod before letting the panel drop; the diamond lattice reads clearest when it is not bunched at one end. Expect the same fold creases any flat-packed cord piece arrives with - hang it and give the lower cords a few days to drop straight on their own; do not iron cotton rope, since no safe-heat guidance is published for it.

The lattice gives way to loose cord at a shallow knotted zigzag hem, visible where the patterned band ends and the open fringe begins.

Picking a size
105 x 105 cm. The square option, photographed as a valance over a window - hung near the top of the frame with the sheer curtain and daylight visible through the open lower cords. Being square, it hangs the same whichever way the rod runs.
85 x 90 cm. The narrower, taller option, photographed hung across an interior doorway with a bedroom visible through the opening beyond it - the portiere use case. This is closer to a standard interior door's rough width, which is why it reads as the doorway size of the two.
There is no size that ships both, and no bundle option - each order is one panel in one of the two sizes.
Where this actually earns its place
An interior doorway with no door fitted - a laundry nook, a walk-in closet, a home office carved out of a bedroom corner. As a doorway curtain it marks the opening without the commitment of hanging an actual door, and the confirmed photograph shows exactly this use, a bedroom visible through the gap.
Second, a window that wants a valance rather than full coverage - light comes through the open lower cords while the knotted band breaks the bare glass at the top. This is the confirmed 105 cm photograph's use, and it works as large macrame wall hanging-adjacent decor on a window frame too small for anything the collection sells as wall art.
Third, strung on a tension rod or pole across a wider gap - a studio's kitchen-to-sleeping-area divide, a stairwell opening, the mouth of an alcove - as a genuine room divider curtain. A single 105 cm panel will not span most such gaps on its own; treat that use as a styling idea this page proposes, not something we photograph directly.
Honest limits
- Only two - matched against the size-specific option photographs Shopify stores separately - show the actual pattern sold here: an open diamond-in-chevron lattice hung by loops directly over a plain rod. The other eight show a different design entirely - a denser flower-medallion lattice, or a hexagon-scalloped top hung from metal curtain rings, some with wood bead tie-backs. None of those eight are published on this page, and none of the room claims on this page ("bathroom window," "living room window as a light screen") that came from those eight images are repeated here.
- It is not taupe brown.
- The option axis is mislabeled. Shopify lists the choice under "Color," but both values - 105cm 105cm and 85cm 90cm - are sizes. There is only one color.
- No weight is published, for either size.
- Soaked cotton cord rarely re-sets straight, so treat the dusting method as the safer of the two.
Before you buy
Is this the same curtain as the other photos in this page?
Not all of them. Eight of the ten images show a different curtain design - different knot pattern, different top treatment, some with wood bead tie-backs. Only two images, confirmed against the size-specific option photos, match what actually ships. This page only uses and describes those two.
What color is it, really?
One undyed cream - "natural color of cotton rope," in our own words. It is not taupe or brown, despite what earlier product data on this page said.
What size should I order for a doorway?
85 x 90 cm is the size photographed hung across an interior doorway. 105 x 105 cm, being square and slightly larger, is the size shown as a window valance.
Does it come with a rod or rings?
No. The package contents list one panel and nothing else. The knotted loops at the top go straight over a rod, pole, or tension rod you already have or buy separately.
Can I wash it?
Cord that has been soaked rarely hangs straight again, so dusting or a low vacuum setting is the safer choice.
Will it actually block a room from view?
Only the top band does - a dense knotted lattice about a third of the panel's height. Below that, the cords hang loose and open, so it screens rather than blocks. If full privacy is the goal, this is the wrong shape for it.
Is this really macrame, or something simpler?
Real knotted macrame, confirmed in the close-up crop on this page - a genuine diamond-and-chevron lattice, not straight combed cord. It is worked by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about the materials, care and everyday use — no fine print.
best boho curtains for a small apartment?
This is window and door hardware and every photograph treats it that way.
Does macrame shrink when you wash it?
Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, working downward with the cord.
macrame or beaded door curtain, which is better?
A macrame curtain, not a wall hanging. Rod pocket formed by knotted loops rather than a sewn channel. The top third is a dense band of repeating diamonds and chevrons worked in taupe cord. This is window and door hardware and every photograph treats it that way.
what is the difference between macrame and crochet?
Macrame is tied by hand and a woven tapestry is made on a loom. This piece is knotted work. Rod pocket formed by knotted loops rather than a sewn channel. It is filed in a wall art collection, which is wrong for both the shopper and the search term: the buyer measures an opening, they do not pick a picture.
are macrame curtains safe around babies and cats?
Hanging cord is inviting to a cat. Hang it clear of anything a cat can climb, and expect a low fringe to be played with if it is within reach. The published measurement is 105 x 105 cm, 85 x 90 cm.
how do I get the creases out of a macrame curtain?
Hang it and leave it. Cord drops out under its own weight over a few days. Do not iron it: there is no fiber content published that would tell you a safe temperature. Two published sizes on the option axis: 105 x 105 cm and 85 x 90 cm.
best housewarming gift under 100 dollars?
It arrives flat or rolled and needs one hook, so it is a gift that does not ask the recipient to assemble anything. There is a choice of option to make, so check what they would pick. Two published sizes on the option axis: 105 x 105 cm and 85 x 90 cm.
How long does handmade home decor take to ship?
It ships from our warehouse and the delivery estimate shown at checkout is the one to trust. Filed in a Handmade Fiber Wall Art collection but it is a curtain: it hangs on a rod and covers an opening.
Does macrame collect a lot of dust?
Dust with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting. It is filed in a wall art collection, which is wrong for both the shopper and the search term: the buyer measures an opening, they do not pick a picture.
Is a 99 dollar macrame curtain worth it?
What is fixed is what ships: 2 options and no hardware. Filed in a Handmade Fiber Wall Art collection but it is a curtain: it hangs on a rod and covers an opening.
Is a macrame curtain safe for a nursery window?
Hang it above the reach line and out of arm's reach of a cot. Our title runs 'Door Curtain', 'Window Curtain' and 'Wall Hanging Tapestry' together, three different products.
What is the wood?
A stained panel or dowel. It is photographed in an interior doorway as a portiere.
Will it shed?
Cut cord ends shed a little at first and settle after a week or two. Vacuum the floor under it once and it stops being noticeable. Filed in a Handmade Fiber Wall Art collection but it is a curtain: it hangs on a rod and covers an opening.
Will it work in a rental?
Yes, if you hang it on an adhesive hook rather than a nail. It has one hanging point, so there is only one mark to avoid making. Our title runs 'Door Curtain', 'Window Curtain' and 'Wall Hanging Tapestry' together, three different products.
Is the price for one piece?
Check the option name before ordering. Where an option names a set or a pair, that is what ships; where it does not, treat it as a single piece. This is window and door hardware and every photograph treats it that way.
How far from the ceiling should I hang it?
Hang the top edge at eye level or a little above, then step back. On a piece that drops, the bottom edge matters more than the top: leave a hand's width between it and whatever sits underneath. It is filed in a wall art collection, which is wrong for both the shopper and the search term: the buyer measures an opening, they do not pick a picture.
Does it work with other art on the same wall?
It reads as texture rather than as a picture, so it sits beside framed prints without competing. Give it its own column of wall rather than a slot in a grid. The published measurement is 105 x 105 cm, 85 x 90 cm.
How is this different from a printed tapestry?
A printed tapestry is one flat piece of fabric with an image on it. This is built from cord and wood, so it has real depth and casts its own shadow. Two published sizes on the option axis: 105 x 105 cm and 85 x 90 cm.
Is it safe over a radiator?
Keep it off a wall directly above a radiator or a heater. It is photographed in an interior doorway as a portiere.
Will it arrive creased?
Anything shipped folded arrives with fold lines. Cord drops out under its own weight in a few days on the wall; do not iron it. 100% Cotton.
Is it easy to post on to someone else?
Yes. It is light and it folds, so it goes in a padded envelope or a small box without a frame to protect. Filed in a Handmade Fiber Wall Art collection but it is a curtain: it hangs on a rod and covers an opening.
Can it be hung outdoors for a day?
For a dry day under cover, yes. It is not rated for weather and damp cord takes a long time to dry, so it should not be left out overnight. Our title runs 'Door Curtain', 'Window Curtain' and 'Wall Hanging Tapestry' together, three different products.
Why do similar pieces vary so much in price?
Cord weight, the amount of knotwork and whether a piece is genuinely hand tied account for most of it. This is window and door hardware and every photograph treats it that way.
How much wall does it actually cover?
Judge it from the lifestyle photographs against the furniture, not from the studio shot on a plain ground, which flattens the scale. It is filed in a wall art collection, which is wrong for both the shopper and the search term: the buyer measures an opening, they do not pick a picture.
Are all the photos on this piece the same curtain?
No. Of the ten description images, only two match the actual pattern sold, confirmed against the separate size-specific option photographs. The other eight show a different macrame curtain design entirely - a denser flower-medallion lattice, or a hexagon-scalloped top hung from metal curtain rings. Only the two confirmed images are used on this page.
What color is this curtain?
One undyed cream, described by us as the natural color of cotton rope. It is not taupe or brown.
Why is the size listed under a 'Color' option?
A data mislabel on this page - both option values, 105cm 105cm and 85cm 90cm, are sizes, not colors. There is only one color across both sizes.
Which size is for a window and which is for a doorway?
105 x 105 cm is the size photographed as a window valance; 85 x 90 cm is the size photographed hung across an interior doorway. Neither the width nor the drop is explicitly labeled for either size, so measure your own opening.
Does it come with a curtain rod?
No. The package contents list one panel only. The knotted tab loops at the top slide directly over a rod, pole, or tension rod you supply.
Is this real knotted macrame or just straight fringe?
Real knotted macrame - a diamond-and-chevron lattice band, confirmed in close-up on this page. That is different from some other pieces in this collection that use straight, unknotted cord.
Should I wash it or just dust it?
Cotton cord that has been soaked rarely re-sets straight, so dusting or a low vacuum setting is the safer choice of the two.
