The rail ships in two 40 cm halves. You join them before anything goes on the wall

A headboard wall is wide and mostly empty, and the usual fix — one framed print, hung dead center — reads small against it. What this piece does instead is cover the width in cord: two banks of it, crossing low in the middle and swagging back up to a wave-cut wooden rail, so the wall gets filled without a frame, a mat or glass anywhere in it.

This is a wall hanging above bed sized at 80 x 60 cm — a dark stained wood rail cut into a shallow S, with two ranks of cotton cord draped from each end, crossing at the center and looping back up to the rail rather than hanging loose at the bottom. Only the crossing point is bound and genuinely interlaced, cord over cord; everywhere else the cord simply falls in parallel ranks, laid flat rather than knotted. 100% cotton, handwoven.

Four colorways ship: green, gray, a rust-and-tan pairing we call ginger coffee, and blue, each one a two-tone swag laid over cream. At 80 cm across it sits with a large tapestry wall hanging, wide enough to read as a wall's main piece rather than a supporting one. Suitable rooms include living room, bedroom, study, coffee shop and photography studio; we would not recommend a bathroom for this piece, since it is 100% cotton with a wood rail and regular humidity is a real risk to both.

What you get

  • One rail, in two halves. Our own product notes are explicit about this: "the upper end of the wood of the product is spliced into 2 sections, each section is 40CM.
  • Two banks of cord per colorway, crossing at the center to form the "swag" in the product name, then returning to the rail rather than ending in loose fringe. There is no tassel and no fringed hem on this piece, despite "tapestry" in our title.
  • Four colorways, each a two-tone. Green, gray, ginger coffee and blue, every one paired against cream. Only one size ships across all four.
  • 300 g, same for all four colorways.
  • No hardware. Nothing beyond the rail and cord is listed or shown in any of our nine photographs. Have your own fixings ready.

Dimensions, and what they mean on your wall

Width and height are printed directly on our size diagrams, one per colorway, all showing the same numbers. Weight is on the same diagrams.

Width 80 cm / 31.5 in across the rail, from our size diagram
Height 60 cm / 23.62 in, rail to the lowest point of the swag
Weight 300 g.
Wall needed About 100 x 90 cm to give it clearance on the sides and below — our estimate, not a published figure
Above a queen headboard A queen headboard runs roughly 150-160 cm. At 80 cm, this covers a little over half of a typical headboard width when hung centered.
Above a king headboard A king headboard runs roughly 180-200 cm. At 80 cm this covers under half the width — it reads as an accent over a king bed rather than a single statement piece
Depth off the wall The photographs show cord laid close to flat against the rail, but we have not measured one

Our size diagram: the blue colorway measuring 80 cm / 31.5 in wide by 60 cm / 23.62 in tall

We are repeating that disclaimer rather than smoothing it over: treat 80 x 60 cm as approximate, not machine-cut precise.

How to hang it

Join the rail first, on a flat surface. The two 40 cm halves meet at the splice near the center of the piece, roughly where the cord banks cross. Do this on a table, not against the wall — once joined, an 80 cm rail with cord already hung from it is awkward for one person to hold in place and drill around at the same time.

Then find your own hanging hardware. None of our nine photographs show the back of the rail, and none show a hook, a cord loop, a D-ring or a keyhole slot. We do not know how this is meant to attach to a wall. Budget for two picture hooks rated well above 300 g, set near each end of the rail rather than one central point, since the load is spread across 80 cm.

Then let the cord settle. A rail that ships in two 40 cm sections is a compact parcel, and cord this long will arrive with bends in it from packing. Work down each swag by hand, easing the crossing point back into shape — the photograph below shows the motion, not a fixed technique we've documented.

Picking a color

Green. Sage green crossing cream, the calmest of the four and the one photographed against a matching sage-green wall. Suits a room that already leans warm neutral or olive.

Gray. A cooler medium gray crossing cream, closer to monochrome than any of the other three. Reads architectural rather than boho, and holds up next to black or dark wood furniture.

The strongest color statement of the four.

Blue. A petrol-to-navy blue crossing cream, the coolest and most graphic pairing. Shown against a deep green wall in our photography, where the contrast is the whole point.

All four are the same 80 x 60 cm and the same 300 g. The choice is entirely which two-tone pairing the wall calls for.

Where this actually earns its place

Above a bed first, which is where four of our nine photographs put it and where the width argument is strongest. At 80 cm it will not cover a king headboard the way a true oversized piece would, but over a queen it clears a little more than half the width — a real alternative to the single framed print that most headboard walls default to.

Second, a large, mostly bare living room wall, in the same family as large living room wall decor built around one sculptural object rather than a gallery of small frames. The swag shape does something a rectangle cannot: it breaks a straight horizontal line — a sofa back, a console top — instead of repeating it.

At this scale it reads as a single focal point above a desk without crowding the shelving on either side.

Honest limits

  • You assemble the rail. It ships as two 40 cm halves that you splice together.
  • "Hand Washable" is in our title, and we cannot back it up. No wash temperature, detergent or drying instruction is published anywhere, and the rail is wood — submerging or machine-washing a wood-topped wall hanging is not something we would recommend regardless of what the title claims.
  • No hanging hardware, and no photograph of the back. None of our nine images show how this rail is meant to attach to a wall.
  • Not a fringed tapestry. Despite "tapestry" in our title, there is no loose fringe anywhere — every cord returns to the rail as a closed swag.
  • Dimensions are hand-measured. Our own fine print says so and asks buyers to treat the received item as the reference, not the diagram.
  • This construction is not unique to this piece. The same wave-cut rail and crossing-swag design is sold elsewhere in this catalog under different color names for the same object. If you are comparing similar pieces, compare the color names against the photographs, not the SKU.

Before you buy

Do I need to assemble anything?

Yes, the rail. Ships as two 40 cm sections that splice together into one 80 cm rail. Do this on a table before you hang anything.

How big is it, and will it fit above my bed?

80 cm / 31.5 in wide by 60 cm / 23.62 in tall, weighing 300 g. Above a queen headboard (roughly 150-160 cm wide) it covers a little over half the width, centered. Above a king headboard (roughly 180-200 cm) it covers under half — an accent rather than a single statement piece. Both figures are our arithmetic scaled from typical headboard widths, not a published spec number.

Does it come with anything to hang it with?

No. Nothing beyond the two rail sections is listed or shown in our photographs, and none of the nine images show the back of the rail or any mounting hardware. Plan on two picture hooks rated well above 300 g, placed near each end of the rail rather than one central point.

Is it really hand washable, like the title says?

We would not treat it that way. Our title includes the phrase "Hand Washable," but no washing instruction — temperature, detergent, drying method — is published anywhere else, and the rail is wood. Dust it instead: a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, working down with the cord.

What is the difference between the four colors?

Green is sage green against cream; gray is a cooler medium gray against cream; ginger coffee is burnt orange and rust against a warmer tan-cream; blue runs petrol to navy against cream. All four are the same 80 x 60 cm rail and the same 300 g — the only variable is the color pairing.

Is this the same as other wave-rail wall hangings in the store?

The rail shape and crossing-swag construction are shared with at least one other piece in this catalog, sold under different color names. The photographs and color descriptions here are specific to this product's four options — Green, Gray, ginger coffee and blue — so compare against the photographs rather than assuming every wave-rail piece is priced or sized the same.

Is there fringe or tassels on this piece?

No.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the materials, care and everyday use — no fine print.

how do you clean a cotton woven wall hanging?

Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, working downward with the cord. No washing instruction -- temperature, detergent or drying method -- is published anywhere, despite "Hand Washable" appearing in our own product title.

what is the difference between macrame and a woven wall hanging?

Macrame is tied by hand and a woven tapestry is made on a loom. This piece is cord hung and shaped rather than knotted, so it sits closer to a fringe hanging than to true macrame. Dark stained rod sawn into a shallow S; one bank of cord hung either side of the crest, each falling in graduated. Above a two-seat sofa it spans about two thirds of the sofa; above a double bed it fills the headboard width.

what color wall hanging goes with a gray couch?

The options are: Green: sage green loops on cream; Gray: charcoal and silver loops on cream; ginger coffee: rust orange and tan loops on cream; blue: navy and mid blue loops on cream. Match the cord to the softest thing in the room rather than to the paint, and the piece will read as part of the room instead of an object stuck on it.

wall decor ideas for above a console table in an entryway?

It is photographed in a hotel or living room above a sofa and in a bedroom above a headboard. Published on the option axis as 80 x 60 cm. Above a two-seat sofa it spans about two thirds of the sofa; above a double bed it fills the headboard width. The options are Green: sage green loops on cream; Gray: charcoal and silver loops on cream; ginger coffee: rust orange and tan loops on cream.

what is 80 x 60 cm in inches?

The published measurement is 80 x 60 cm. Published on the option axis as 80 x 60 cm. Above a two-seat sofa it spans about two thirds of the sofa; above a double bed it fills the headboard width. Measure the wall first: the number that matters is the gap you are filling, not the piece. The options are Green: sage green loops on cream; Gray: charcoal and silver loops on cream; ginger coffee: rust orange and tan loops on cream.

is 100 percent cotton wall art better than polyester?

100% cotton cord on a stained wood rail, with a soft, matte texture that polyester cord doesn't have. The tradeoff is that cotton holds damp and dries slowly, so keep it off a humid wall. It's handwoven, but only the crossing point at the center is genuinely interlaced -- the rest of the cord falls in parallel ranks rather than knotted throughout.

what wall art works in a small apartment living room?

Yes. It is photographed in a hotel or living room above a sofa. Published on the option axis as 80 x 60 cm.

how do I get the wrinkles and curl out of a woven wall hanging?

Hang it and let the cord drop out under its own weight over a few days. 100% cotton. Do not iron.

can you machine wash a cotton wall hanging?

We would not. Hand washable. The rail is wood. Dust it instead, and treat the title's claim as unverified.

what is safe to hang above a crib?

Hang it above the reach line and out of arm's reach of a cot. It is photographed in a hotel or living room above a sofa.

does a cotton wall hanging fade in direct sunlight?

No light fastness rating is published. Direct sun will lift color out of any dyed cord in time, so a wall that does not take midday sun is the safer place for it. It is photographed in a bedroom above a headboard.

do woven wall hangings collect dust?

Dust with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting. Above a two-seat sofa it spans about two thirds of the sofa; above a double bed it fills the headboard width.

is handmade wall decor worth the price?

What's fixed is what ships: 4 color options and no mounting hardware, so budget for your own hooks. It is photographed in a bedroom above a headboard.

does the wooden rod come with the wall hanging?

Yes -- the wood rail is part of the piece, not a separate accessory. Ships as two 40 cm sections that splice together into one 80 cm rail before hanging; a dark stained wood panel cut into a shallow S shape.

do wall hangings come in colors that match my bedding?

A wave-cut, dark-stained wood rail with two banks of cotton cord falling from it, crossing near the center where they're bound, the accent color on the inner loops and cream on the outer. Four colorways ship this way: green, gray, ginger coffee (a rust-and-tan pairing) and blue, each layered over cream. 100% cotton. Suits hanging above a headboard.

What exactly is published for the size?

80 x 60 cm, 300 g — same for all four colorways.

What is the wood?

A stained wood rail, cut into a shallow S shape. Above a two-seat sofa it spans about two thirds of the width, and above a queen headboard it covers a little over half, so plan on it reading as a focal piece rather than covering the whole wall.

Does it come with a hook or a nail?

No hook, nail or picture hanger ships with it -- the package holds only the rail and cord. Budget two picture hooks rated well above the piece's 300 g, placed near each end of the 80 cm rail rather than one central point, since the load is spread across its width.

Will it shed?

Cut cord ends shed a little at first and settle after a week or two. Vacuum the floor under it once and it stops being noticeable. It is photographed in a bedroom above a headboard.

What happens if it gets damp?

Cord holds damp and dries slowly, so keep it off a bathroom wall or anywhere near a kettle or shower door -- no moisture rating is published for this piece. The four colorways are Green, Gray, a rust-and-tan ginger coffee, and Blue, each a two-tone swag laid over cream, so a damp stain would show against the lighter cream backing.

How is this different from a printed tapestry?

A printed tapestry is one flat piece of fabric with an image on it. This is built from cord and wood, so it has real depth and casts its own shadow. Above a two-seat sofa it spans about two thirds of the sofa; above a double bed it fills the headboard width.

Will it suit a small room?

Read the proportion in the lifestyle photographs rather than the word in the title. A piece that fills a headboard in a large bedroom will crowd a small one. It is photographed in a hotel or living room above a sofa.

Is the color dyed all the way through?

The cord is dyed rather than printed, so the color runs through the strand. No light fastness figure is published, so treat strong sun as a risk. It is photographed in a bedroom above a headboard.

Will it arrive creased?

Likely, yes. The rail ships as two 40 cm sections rather than one 80 cm piece, which means a smaller, denser parcel and cord that has been folded or coiled for transit. Work down each swag by hand after unpacking; do not iron it.

does this wall hanging need to be assembled?

Yes -- our own product notes state that the rail's upper wood section ships spliced into two 40 cm halves that you join into one 80 cm rail before hanging it.

what hardware do you need to hang this wall hanging?

We don't have a fixed answer, since none of our nine photographs show the back of the rail or any hook, loop, D-ring or keyhole slot, and no hardware ships with it. Plan on two picture hooks rated well above the piece's 300 g, placed near each end of the rail rather than one central point.

is this wall hanging actually hand washable, like the title says?

We would not treat it that way. Hand washable. The rail is a spliced wood piece. Dust it with a soft brush or a low vacuum instead.

how much does this wall hanging weigh?

300 g, printed on all four of our size diagrams -- one per colorway, all showing the same figure.

is it safe to hang cotton wall art in a bathroom?

Bathroom is listed among the suggested rooms for this piece, alongside living room, bedroom, study, coffee shop and photography studio, but we would not recommend it: this is 100% cotton cord on an unsealed wood rail, and regular humidity is a real risk to both.

is this the same piece as other wave-rail wall hangings in the store?

The wave-cut rail and crossing-swag construction are shared with at least one other piece in this catalog, sold under different color names. This product's four options -- Green, Gray, ginger coffee and blue -- are described and photographed specifically for this piece; compare by photograph and color name rather than assuming price or size line up.

does the cord have fringe or tassels at the bottom?

No. Every cord runs from the rail down through the swag and back up to the rail again -- there is no loose end, fringe or tassel anywhere on the piece, despite "tapestry" appearing in our own product title.

what does "hand-measured" mean for the published 80 x 60 cm?

Treat 80 x 60 cm as approximate rather than a machine-cut spec, and expect the piece you receive to be the final reference, not the diagram.

will this fit above a king bed?

It will fit on the wall, but it will read small. A king headboard runs roughly 180-200 cm wide; at 80 cm this piece covers under half of that, which makes it an accent rather than a single statement piece over a king bed. Over a queen headboard (roughly 150-160 cm) it covers a little over half, which reads more deliberate. Both figures are arithmetic scaled from typical headboard widths, not a published spec number.

how many hooks does an 80 cm wall hanging like this need?

We would use two, not one. The rail spans 80 cm and ships in two spliced 40 cm halves, so a single center hook puts all the load on the joint. Two picture hooks near each end, rated well above the piece's 300 g, spread the load across the rail instead.

does this wall hanging work above a desk in a home office?

The ginger coffee colorway is 80 x 60 cm, like the others — suited above a desk as well as a bed. At that scale it reads as a single focal point without crowding shelving on either side.
