Item details Materials, dimensions, what is in the box

The smaller one costs more. Read the measurements before you pick

Four options here, and they divide into two shapes at two sizes. The M-shaped is 150 cm wide, 100 cm deep and weighs 1400 g. The N-type is 110 cm wide, 80 cm deep and weighs 970 g. The M-shaped is the larger piece by a long way - and it is the cheaper of the two on this page. We are not going to pretend that is intuitive.

Both are the same idea: a dark wood batten with fine cords dropping from it, wooden beads threaded across the cords in a wave, and tassels hung below in the same wave so the hem reads as a mountain range. The cords themselves are undyed cream and nearly invisible at a distance, so what you see is a floating line of beads and a row of tassels following it.

It is bedroom wall decor for a wide wall. At 110 to 150 cm across, this is one of the widest things in the collection, and it works where a vertical hanging would look stranded - above a headboard, behind a sofa, along a landing.

The green version photographed in raking light

What you get

  • One hanging, in the option you pick. Shape and color are a single choice - there is no separate size axis.
  • A dark wood batten the full width of the piece, with the cords fixed along it.
  • Two beaded waves. Pale wooden beads threaded across the cords, forming an upper wave and, on the N-type, a second denser one below it.
  • A tassel hem following the same wave, in alternating tones - two greens and cream, or two browns and cream.
  • No fixings. None included, and a 150 cm batten at 1400 g wants two.

Dimensions, by option

Every option carries its own we drawing. All four are below, because the two shapes are not two sizes of one design and the price does not follow the size.

M-shaped green · M-shaped coffee 150 cm wide, 100 cm deep, 1400 g. One high peak at each side and a deep V in the middle - the M the name refers to.
N-type green · N-type coffee 110 cm wide, 80 cm deep, 970 g. A shallower wave with a denser second bead line, so the hem is busier and less angular.
Wall needed About 170 x 125 cm for an M-shaped; about 130 x 105 cm for an N-type
Above a king bed The M-shaped at 150 cm covers most of a king headboard. The N-type at 110 cm suits a double or a single.
Above a three-seat sofa A three-seat sofa is 200-220 cm. The M-shaped covers about two thirds of it; the N-type about half.
Hanging height Leave 20 cm between the lowest tassel and the furniture below. The deepest point of an M-shaped is the center, so measure from there, not from the ends.
Depth off the wall Beads and tassels on cord, so it stands slightly proud.

How to hang it

Two fixings, on both shapes. A 110 cm batten carrying 970 g on one central hook will sag and rotate; a 150 cm batten at 1400 g definitely will. Set the fixings roughly 70 cm apart on the N-type and 90-100 cm apart on the M-shaped, both well inside the ends, and use wall plugs rather than picture hooks.

Level it carefully. On a piece this wide with a symmetrical hem, a batten a few millimeters out of true is obvious - the two peaks stop matching. Mark both fixings, check with a level, then drill.

Hang it by the deepest point. The tassel hem drops 80 to 100 cm below the batten and the lowest point is in the middle, not at the ends. Decide where the center of the V should sit, then measure the full depth up from there.

Straighten the cords, not the tassels. The cords arrive with a curl and will hang unevenly for a day or two, which pulls the bead wave out of shape. Run your fingers down each section and let the weight of the beads do the rest. The tassels themselves need only a light comb.

Picking a shape and a color

M-shaped is the graphic one. Two clear peaks and a deep central V, 150 cm across, and at 1400 g it has real presence. It is the choice for a wide wall where you want one strong horizontal gesture - above a king headboard, or along a landing.

N-type is softer and smaller: 110 cm, a shallower wave, and a second bead line that makes the middle of the piece denser. It reads as texture rather than as a shape, which suits a room that already has pattern in it.

Green pairs two greens - a deep forest and a soft sage - with cream. It is the cooler option and the one that sits with plants, wood and linen.

Coffee pairs a dark chocolate brown with a warm tan and cream. It is the warmer option and the one that holds up on a clay, terracotta or beige wall, where the green tends to sink.

The coffee version above a sofa

Where this actually earns its place

Above a bed, and specifically a wide one. The M-shaped at 150 cm is one of very few textile pieces that covers a king headboard in a single object, and the wave hem gives the wall a horizontal line that matches the bed instead of fighting it. That is the above bed wall decor case at full width.

Second, behind a sofa. Beads and tassels at this density take a noticeable amount of hard sound out of a wall, and unlike a framed piece there is no glass to reflect a lamp. As above couch wall decor the M-shaped covers about two thirds of a three-seat sofa, which is the standard proportion.

Third, a landing, a stairwell wall or the long wall of an open-plan room - anywhere seen from a distance, where the beads catch light and the cream cords disappear. As boho wall decor it is a quiet piece up close and a strong one from across a room, which is an unusual combination.

Honest limits

  • The smaller option costs more. The N-type is 110 x 80 cm and 970 g at the higher price; the M-shaped is 150 x 100 cm and 1400 g at the lower one. Compare the measurements, not the price, and we have flagged the inversion internally.
  • Two fixings, and levelling matters. A symmetrical hem on a 150 cm batten shows every millimeter of error. This is not a hang-it-and-see piece.
  • The bead material is not declared. They photograph as pale wood. Nobody has said so.
  • Dust and comb; do not wash a meter and a half of beaded cord.

Before you buy

Which option is bigger?

The M-shaped, by a long way: 150 x 100 cm and 1400 g against the N-type's 110 x 80 cm and 970 g. It is also the cheaper of the two on this page, which is worth knowing before you choose by price.

What is the difference between M-shaped and N-type?

Size and hem profile. The M-shaped is 150 cm wide with two clear peaks and a deep central V. The N-type is 110 cm wide with a shallower wave and a second, denser bead line through the middle, so it reads as texture rather than as a shape.

How many fixings does it need?

Two, on either shape. Set them about 70 cm apart on the N-type and 90 to 100 cm apart on the M-shaped, well inside the ends of the batten, and use wall plugs - 970 to 1400 g on one central hook will sag and rotate.

How much wall does it need?

About 170 x 125 cm for an M-shaped, or 130 x 105 cm for an N-type. Leave 20 cm between the lowest tassel and any furniture below, and measure that from the center of the hem, which is the deepest point.

Is it cotton?

It is a blend.

How do I clean it?

Dust it and comb the tassels. A meter and a half of beaded cord is not something to wash.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the materials, care and everyday use — no fine print.

What is the best wedding backdrop for a small venue?

It hangs from a single cord loop, so it works on a backdrop frame or a hired stand as easily as on a wall. The widest format in this batch. Over a three-seat sofa it spans nearly the whole sofa; over a double bed it is wider than the headboard. No dimension card in any frame. Polyester / Cotton. A blend, not pure cotton, and the page does not describe it as cotton.

What is the best gift for a first apartment?

It arrives flat or rolled and needs one hook, so it is a gift that does not ask the recipient to assemble anything. There is a choice of option to make, so check what they would pick. Over a three-seat sofa it spans nearly the whole sofa; over a double bed it is wider than the headboard.

What is tatting weaving?

Polyester / Cotton. A blend, not pure cotton, and the page does not describe it as cotton. Two shapes crossed with two colorways, and unusually for this batch the option names actually say which is which.

How many options does this come in?

4. They are: M-shaped green: sage green and cream tassels; M-shaped coffee: chestnut brown, tan and cream tassels; N-type green: sage green and cream tassels; N-type coffee color: chestnut brown, tan and cream tassels. It is photographed in a bedroom above a headboard.

Which option is the most neutral?

The cream or undyed option where there is one. The full list is: M-shaped green: sage green and cream tassels; M-shaped coffee: chestnut brown, tan and cream tassels; N-type green: sage green and cream tassels; N-type coffee color: chestnut brown, tan and cream tassels. Polyester / Cotton. A blend, not pure cotton, and the page does not describe it as cotton.

Is there anything about this piece I should know first?

Polyester / Cotton blend. The page must say the blend, not cotton. Two shapes crossed with two colorways, and unusually for this batch the option names actually say which is which.

What is the wood?

A stained panel or dowel. The M and N shapes differ in where the peaks fall, which is a real difference on a piece this wide because it decides whether the low point sits over the middle of the sofa or over its arms.

Will it shed?

Cut cord ends shed a little at first and settle after a week or two. Vacuum the floor under it once and it stops being noticeable. The options are M-shaped green: sage green and cream tassels; M-shaped coffee: chestnut brown, tan and cream tassels; N-type green: sage green and cream tassels.

Will it work in a rental?

Yes, if you hang it on an adhesive hook rather than a nail. It has one hanging point, so there is only one mark to avoid making. Over a three-seat sofa it spans nearly the whole sofa; over a double bed it is wider than the headboard.

Is the price for one piece?

Check the option name before ordering. Where an option names a set or a pair, that is what ships; where it does not, treat it as a single piece. It is photographed in a living room above a sofa.

What happens if it gets damp?

Cord holds damp and dries slowly. Keep it off a bathroom wall and away from a kettle or a shower door. Polyester / Cotton blend.
